11th Annual Ipswich Poetry Feast

The Ipswich Poetry Feast is an annual poetry writing competition giving poets of all ages the opportunity to compete for over $7,800 in prizes. Widely promoted to schools, libraries and the general community, this competition attracts local, interstate and global entries.

Holiday games at the State Library of QLd.

Make Your Own Computer Game

You may have noticed that we've been promoting several events being run by the State Library of Qld by reposting them on our blog. We will do this from time to time when we see events you might be interested in such as the Gold Coast Young Writers competition or holiday events being run at Gold Coast City Council libraries. Keep an eye out on the blog because new events and competitions are listed as they become available.

Learn how to use Scratch to create your own a-mazing game!
Scratch is a free program that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art.
Participants will be shown how to make a basic interactive game and have the opportunity to develop and refine it.
All participants will also receive a wristband USB drive with a copy of their creation and the program.

This is the basic program of activities aimed at getting you thinking, creating, and living games.
This month you can join pop-bit band 7Bit Hero as they launch their debut EP We Eat Loot (2 Mar), explore the creative ways industries are adapting games for serious health outcomes (6 Mar), kick off the weekend with Halfbrick studios at Level Up games night (8 Mar), and take a look at the working life of an indie game developer studio (16 Mar).
